The Camry: From the '80s to Today

    Last updated 1 year ago

The Toyota Camry has been one of America’s favorite cars for decades, and over the years, it has morphed and changed to suit the fluctuating demands of the American auto market. Transforming from a small sedan sold in Japan to an internationally recognized family car, the sedan has played a significant role in recent automotive history:

    1980s

The Toyota Camry was first introduced to the Japanese market as a four-door sedan in 1980. A few years later, its success drove it into the American market, where it would become a fierce competitor in the mid-size sedan segment almost overnight. Safety, performance, and body design were constantly updated throughout the decade.

    1990s

The following decade saw a demand for larger cars in the American auto market, and Toyota responded by redesigning the Camry to Texas standards—bigger and better in every way. The redesign resulted in a more aerodynamic Camry that sat wider on the road and was more spacious for the occupants. More power was added over the years.

    2000s

In 2002, the first redesign of the new decade left the already popular Camry with a more refined and substantial appearance. The V6 engine grew gradually over the years, bringing more power to the constantly expanding sedan. In 2007, Toyota introduced a hybrid model, borrowing technology from their popular Prius.

    Today

Toyota’s 2011 Camry, the result of generations of adjustments and improvements, is a highly refined and fuel-efficient family sedan. It offers an incredibly comfortable and safe ride, powered by a muscular 3.5-liter V6 that produces 268 horsepower. The latest Camry is a shining example of what made its predecessors so popular for so many years.

Top Reasons to Drive a Prius

    Last updated 1 year ago

The Toyota Prius has become the standard for hybrid vehicles, but its status and popularity are not the only reasons why you should consider driving one yourself. The famous hybrid hatchback offers unparalleled fuel efficiency and a slew of other fantastic features. Here are a few of the best reasons to drive a Toyota Prius

    -       Fun

The 2011 Toyota Prius is a joy to drive, with a sporty four-cylinder engine that produces plenty of horsepower to get up to speeds fast and efficiently. Features like an iPod-compatible JBL sound system and a touchscreen DVD navigation system make the Prius even more fun to drive.

    -       Functional

The Prius is good for more than just a fun drive across town. With seating for five and cargo capacity in excess of 21 cubic feet, the 2011 Toyota Prius is perfectly suited for carrying a small family and all of the luggage around the city or on a road trip.

    -       Economical

Everybody knows that the Toyota Prius is incredibly fuel efficient, but not everyone realizes just how economical it is. The quick and spacious hatchback gets 48 mpg on the highway, and unlike any conventionally fueled vehicle, it gets even better in the city, reaching up to 51 mpg!

    -       Clean

Hybrid cars were not only designed for the benefit of our wallets and bank accounts. The Toyota Prius does its part for the environment by producing ultra-low CO2 emissions. A Prius will produce far less air pollution than any gas or diesel fueled car its size, so you will feel good knowing that you’re doing your part for our environment.

If you want to find out even more reasons to buy a Toyota Prius, then you should call Alamo Toyota and set up a test drive today. We provide excellent new and used cars, maintenance, and financing services in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Call (210) 428-6802 or contact us online for more information.
